About

Residential Construction Advisors provides a service that pays for itself many times over by reducing costs, mistakes, stress, frustrations and disagreements.

My goals are;
  • To provide honest, objective advice and council by acting as educator, advisor and representative for the homeowner or anyone considering new construction, renovation or land development.
  • To help the homeowners consider, plan, begin and complete their project with qualified contractors, workers and tradesmen who are interested in doing good work at a fair and competitive price.
  • To help insure the homeowners make their decisions based on a firm foundation of honest and relevant information about the construction process and its' related costs.
  • To help eliminate or minimize misunderstandings, unnecessary costs, future conflicts, dissatisfactions and disputes through; education, cost reduction strategies, continuing advice, problem solving and mediation when required.

In any type of construction, when you Learn what to expect than you can know what to avoid.

To help insure objectivity, I do not; perform certified home inspections, provide official cost estimates, contract for or perform any work.

I believe the more you know about the building / renovating process, the more likely you will be to have a satisfying experience and accomplish your goals within your budget.

Our discussions will be based on the premise that if you know everything about the process; what is required of you, what to expect from the person or people you hire and where the possible pitfalls lie, then you will have an excellent chance of getting what you want, as well as a positive, non-anxiety ridden experience. As a bonus, you will have the benefit of maintaining a continuing positive relationship with your contractor or tradesman.

Regardless of the size and scope of the project you are considering, it should be a working partnership between you and the general contractor, contractor, or tradesman of your choice. Your relationship with the people you chose is critical and will last anywhere from a week to a year or more.  Some projects will require just a few decisions and a relatively small amount of time, while others, an overwhelming amount of your time and patience.

Renovation and building projects are, to varying degrees, disruptive to your life.  And all projects can, by their nature, be frustrating for the homeowner as well as for the contractors or tradesmen who also face many challenges from weather delays, rising prices, sub-contractor schedules and the fact that the process of estimating costs and time frames is, in most cases, a pretty inexact science. It is the success of the honest relationship that gets both parties through.

The best partnerships are those which allow both parties to work separately and together in an atmosphere of honesty, straightforwardness, gratitude and respect. This can be possible when both parties are knowledgeable, completely informed and willing to communicate openly.
